How to apply - Master Programmes and Single Courses
Applications for Master programmes and single courses are handled within a system coordinated by the Swedish Agency for Higher Education Services (VHS) and their website universityadmissions.se (link below, right).
Universityadmissions.se details everything you need to know about the application procedure; no other application forms are available. If you are applying as an exchange student (Erasmus, Tempus etc.), you apply through your home university.
The application deadlines for international Master programmes and individual courses are ordinarily:
15 January for autumn terms
15 August for spring terms
If the 15th falls on a Saturday or Sunday the last day will be the following Monday.
Application instructions
The application process is partly web-based, but you also need to send all required documents by regular mail. Below you will find some important steps of the application process listed:
1. Create a user account
In order to apply you need to start by creating a user account at the website universityadmissions.se of the National Admissions Office. This is used to log in to the web-based application form ("My pages").
Please note that the user account can be created in advance, before you are going to make the actual application!

2. Web-based application form
Once you have created your user account, you can search for and select the courses or programmes you want to apply for. We advice you to use the link below to browse courses and programmes given in English in our catalogue.
Click on the name for a course/programme you are interested in and then "Apply at antagning.se!". This click brings you to the equivalent resulting page at universityadmissions.se.
Click on 'Add' for the course or programme you are interested in and place them in your basket. Click on 'To application' to create an application in your name.
The next step will be to rank the selected courses/programmes in order of preference. Then mark the box for supporting documents and send your application.
3. Pay application fee (if required)
4. Cover Sheet
After submission of the web-based application form, you will get access to a cover sheet for your supporting documents (see phase 4 below). This cover sheet should be printed and signed.
If you cannot do this straight away, you will be able to reach and print it later via "My pages". The sheet contains your personal data and is essential for matching the actual documents with your application.
5. Complete application
Your complete application should consist of the signed cover sheet along with all the required supporting documents (correctly certified). All supporting documents must be stamped and signed by the issuing institution and copies must be correctly attested.
Send your application package to the address given on the cover sheet. Do NOT send it to Gotland University!
6. Check selection results via "My pages" and reply to offer
7. Pay tuition fee first instalment (if required)
8. Apply for residence permit (not valid for internet-based course applicants)
Proficiency in English
Proficiency in English supported by documents is required for most applicants. If your secondary school qualifications for English do not fulfil the requirement for English proficiency and English is not your mother tongue, you must take an officially recognised test such as TOEFL or IELTS. Please note that English proficiency letters are not accepted as proof of English proficiency.

Notification of selection results
We cannot and do not provide advance information on admissions. Everybody who made an online application through universityadmissions.se, will receive an e-mail notification. The Notification of selection results (accepted or rejected) will be posted in “My pages”. If your application was successful, you should have a notification as a printable PDF-file. No hard copies of notification are sent any longer by regular mail.
Scholarships
Currently Gotland University does neither offer scholarships to students nor does it have any financial aid programme. Financial support must be obtained by other means. The Swedish Institute (SI) has a limited amount of scholarships available to students who come for their studies to Sweden.
